Geodata Web Services
Geodata services in ArcGIS Server are used to publish geodatabases as web services. This exposes a number of capabilities for accessing and working with geodatabases on the web:
- Feature query and data extraction services. (Read-only.)
- Editing, update, and distributed data management services.
- Open GIS services using WCS and WFS. WCS makes the raster contents of your geodatabase available as an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Coverage Service (WCS). Publishing WFS services makes the feature contents of your geodatabase available as an OGC Web Feature Service (WFS). You can use WFS services in ArcGIS Server as a mechanism to openly publish updates from your geodatabase as well as to make updates in your geodatabase using WFS transactions (WFS-T).
