Importing geodatabase content into CAD drawings

Exporting data to CAD files

In ArcGIS Desktop, the geoprocessing tool Export to CAD enables you to export your ArcGIS data to AutoCAD and MicroStation formats. Conversion can range from simple translations that generate geometry and basic properties to more complex translations that incorporate seed files to control layer standards, write attribute values and symbolize the output to specific CAD entities.

About AutoCAD files

Beginning with ArcGIS 9.3, Export to CAD also writes feature class schema information and feature attribute values to AutoCAD drawing files as non-graphic data that can be edited with the free download ArcGIS for AutoCAD. Conversely, this data is directly usable by ArcGIS as named feature classes containing attribute values and can be used as input to geoprocessing tools.
