Command line and Scripting

Syntax

RasterToPoint_conversion (in_raster, out_point_features, raster_field)
Parameter Explanation Datatype
Input raster (Required)

The input raster dataset.

The raster can be integer or floating point.

Composite Geodataset
Output point features (Required)

The output feature class that will contain the converted points.

Feature Class
Field (Optional)

The field to assign values from the cells in the input raster to the point features in the output dataset.

It can be an integer, floating, point or string field.

# Description:
# Converts a raster to point features.
# Requirements: None

# Create the Geoprocessor object
gp = arcgisscripting.create()

try:
    # Set local variables
    InRaster = "C:/data/raster1"
    OutPointFeatures = "C:/data/raster2point.shp"

    # Process: RasterToPoint_conversion
    gp.RasterToPoint_conversion(InRaster, OutPointFeatures)
