Additional requirements

Installing ArcGIS Engine Runtime

To install ArcGIS Engine Runtime, do the following:

  1. Insert the ArcGIS Engine Runtime CD in the CD drive and use Windows Explorer to navigate to the CD drive.
  2. Follow the ArcGIS Engine Runtime Setup instructions. If any other ArcGIS products are installed on the machine, the install will default to the same location. ArcGIS component object model (COM) libraries will be installed automatically by the install.
  3. To use the runtime with the .NET application programming interface (API), you will need to install the .NET ArcGIS Engine support feature. The .NET feature will install a .NET assembly for each COM library. Prior to installing the .NET feature, Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 must be installed on the machine.

If the .NET Framework prerequisite is met prior to installing the ArcGIS Engine Runtime, the .NET feature will install as part of a typical install. Alternately, if the prerequisite does not exist on the machine, you will need to install the prerequisite, then install the corresponding feature using the Modify or Repair option for ArcGIS Engine Runtime in the Add or Remove Programs dialog box.
