- Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- In the left tree structure, expand your server node and click the Web Service Extensions folder.
- In the list of Web Service Extensions that appears, click ASP.NET v2.0.50727 and click the Allow button. If the Allow button is disabled, the extension is already allowed.
Installing MapIt
To install MapIt, follow these instructions:
-
Launch the setup from either ESRIMapItx86.exe (32-bit machines) or ESRIMapItx64.exe (64-bit machines). Read the Welcome screen and click Next.
-
Examine the license agreement. To proceed with the wizard, you must accept the
terms of the agreement. Once you have done so, click Next.
-
Choose which features of the product you want and the location where they will
be installed, then click Next. Available features are:
-
Map Web Part for SharePoint - This Silverlight-based Web Part can be embedded
in Microsoft SharePoint sites to provide mapping functionality.
-
Spatial Data Assistant - This application helps you get your spatial data into
Microsoft SQL Server or associate spatial information with data already in SQL
Server.
-
Spatial Data Service - This is the service that provides access to your SQL
Server spatial data through a REST endpoint. You should install this feature on
your Web server machine.
-
Web Client API - This is the Silverlight / WPF API that you'll use to develop
client applications for your service.
-
Type the name of the Virtual Directory where you want the Spatial Data Service
to be configured and click Next. If this Virtual Directory doesn't already
exist, it will be created for you.
-
Type the name of the SQL Server instance that will host your data. Use the
format <server>\<instance> (For example: MYSERVER\SQLEXPRESS).
-
Choose the type of authentication that the Spatial Data Service should use to
connect to the database (Windows or SQL Server) and enter a user name and
password that can read the tables and views you want to expose through MapIt.
For example, this might be an account in the db_datareader role.
For this step, avoid using an account that can write to your tables and views.
You only need to use an account with write access when you are logging into the
Spatial Data Assistant.
Once you've entered your credentials, click Next to begin the installation.
Authorizing MapIt
After you complete the installation, a dialog appears asking whether you want to
use the evaluation version or the licensed version of MapIt.
-
If you choose to use the evaluation version, you can proceed to use MapIt
without providing a license file. The evaluation version allows you to use all
the functions of MapIt for 60 days, but limits the amount of data you can work
with at a time. Using the evaluation version, you can geocode 500 records from
a table of addresses, query 500 records of a table, and load 500 records of a
shapefile.
-
If you choose to use the licensed version, enter the full path to the license
file you received from the MapIt download site. You can optionally browse to
the file. The licensed version places no limit on the amount of data you can
work with at a time.
You can optionally license MapIt at a later time by launching the License
Configuration utility from the Start menu.
