Map Template Gallery
Historical GIS: Boston 1775
|
This template is an example of a Historical GIS and how it was used to create a map. Each feature in the GIS database cited and linked to a table of bibliographic sources. The example in this template is a map of Boston in 1775. This map has been compiled from primary source documents (maps published between 1764 and 1784), and several books and periodicals published afterwards. The structure of this example can be used to create any kind of map that links features to their information source, but it is especially useful for making maps of places as they were at any time in the past based on documentation such as maps, books, or newspapers.

Grids missing posted by kmayall on May 28, 2009 5:35 PM
The DEM and hillshade grids appear to be missing from the zip file.
Grids added, new ZIP posted. posted by cfrye on May 28, 2009 6:51 PM
Sorry about that--it's easy to get used to seeing the folder and believing it's populated. Also the PDF, and MXD were updated as well.
cannot open the mxd posted by alxyoung on Jun 02, 2009 10:12 AM
I have downloaded and extracted the files but the mxd quits immediately upon opening.
Start ArcMap first, then open the MXD posted by cfrye on Jun 02, 2009 12:40 PM
I don't know why this map doesn't open for some people (myself included) when it is double-clicked from a file browser. I've tried copying the content to a new empty map, and still got the same problem. But no problems have happend when starting ArcMap first.
